My personal experience with the Xiamen Academy of International Law now spans close to 10 years. What has been most remarkable is the tangible growth and increasing outreach of the work of the Academy, including its body of research.

The summer programme has grown from a mostly Chinese/Asian base to a truly international knowledge exchange platform, with participation from all parts of the world. The level of expertise of the Academy’s guest lecturers has been exceptional. I have met many judges of the International Court of Justice, had face-to-face discussion on current topics with world-renowned scholars, and debated issues with legal practitioners. However, the greatest inspiration has come from the talented, motivated and enthusiastic students that have attended the summer programme, from across the globe. Finding new ways to cooperate and share ideas--it gives us all hope for the future!
